■ ■ ■ , '">iJb> ~ *■ ■ The ordinary '•raouthly meeting of the, above Board was held on Saturday. Present—Messrs W. Booth in the chair, E.W..Dorset, W, Parker, N. Grace, H. Braithvaite; J. Bayner, faim Stevens and D. Keid. The minutes of the previous meeting we read and confirmed. •Correspondence was read from Mr B. 6. Weloh stating that he had exceeded the,amount voted- by the Board for the swing bridge ! at Matarawa by £2 8s Bd, and ; asked for a refund. It was resolved to pay the £lO as voted, and allow the balance to stand over till next meeting An opinion from the Solicitor-General re tho legalty of roads, whioh had reference to a. line in the Featherston District known as the Western Lake road to the effect that as the road had beeu used for n number of years as a public road without any hindrance' of the owner of the land, it became under the Common Law a public road. A transfer of a section of land at Kokatau from Mr Wilkinson to Mr Dakin .was granted. Henry Wadham was appointed ranger. It was resolved that the half acre of land whioh Has been undor consideration, and .'which is in the occupation of Mr Anderson at Kakatau, be taken under the Pubhe Works Act, 1882. Thaßfr Sk'ey be allowed to plant trees by the road side.near his property at the Taratahi. That the Dalefieid Dairy Company be allowed to take gravel from a pit on' the _. Dalefieid ■ road. The. matter of taking a poll;re loan for the bridge at Matarawa was finally decided upon, the 'Warden for No. 5 Ward to be returning' officer for the .same. Several aocounts were passed for payment, and.the meeting terminated. . ■ - '
