It was referred to the Works Committee, but it is not likely the Govern-, inent will buy it at that price, or at all hear it. In reply to the applioa-. tionofthe Board as to the amount the tug proprietors would charge for furnishing daily soundings ;of the bar, they offered to do it for 450 permonth. Captain Connor, formerly master of the steamer Maori, and at pres'er+t Acting-Harbormaster, was appointed Harbormaster. There were five applicants.
