AN AMERICAN. BUEIAL BILL. (United Press Association,) Auckland, August 19. The matter of obtaining probate in : ,the will of, bishop,. who was shot on board the mail steamer at San • Francisco, came before Justice Ward in Chambers to-day. The will in question bequeaths the bulk of the. pro-: perfcy to deceased's daughters, and excludes his widow .from participation, and the latter secured the right to haya the will proved by action. Mr Napier, who appeared for the executors under the will, intimatedthathe had noobjection to probate being sought by a formal action at law; at the same time he took the opportunity to draw attention to the undertaker's bill, which had just been received from San Francisco. Ttie ■ account whioh amounted-to 422 dollars 8 cents, was handed to his Honor, who remarked I on perusing it,"" Gracious 1 if a dead! man' coats so much in San Francisco, it must be very expensive to live

there.- These costs are something awful.'.' His Honor recommended Mr Napier, in the interest of the public; to have the bill of costs published, and'added grimly," If anyone wants .to go and die in San Francisco, that bill ought to act as ; a' deterrent,' It was then'arra'nged that probate of the'will should be attained by an action. The trM-l-is .fixed, to takeplace in October.next; '■.-.' •'
