' '"".V ' L iNTERPRETAIION.-'Whcrcver in thta By-Law any of the terras' mentioned in section 5 of " Tho Slaughterhouses Act, 1877 " are used, such toriiis shall, in the construction hereof, have the meanings asaipnod to them by the Baid section, unless there be something in tho context or subject matter repugnant thereto. Tho word " Slaunhterhouse" shall ulso mean and include thehouse, buildings, yards aud'premises, in respect of which aiiy license may be granted under Hub By-Law, and the word County, or Council, shall ' moan tho County of Wairarapa North or'the-Council thereof respectively, 11. Buildingn or .Premises to bo Li'con-Bcd.-No Buildings or Premises within the County shall be ÜBed as a place for • slaughtering cattle.for the purposes of ordinary, trade, unlesß the same be licensed as hereinafter, mentioned. 111. Slaughterhouses at present in use to bo registered.-Every place which at tho timo of the passing of this By-law ib lawfully in use as a Slaughterhouse within the County shall, within one month alter tho coming into operation of this By-Law, be registered at the office of the Council, and on application to the Clerk of the County, he shall register every such Slaughterhouse in a book to be kopt for that purpopo. IV. Application forLicense.-The ownei or occupier of any premises within the Cuunty may apply to tho Council for a License tu usu the same as a Slaughterhouse, and such application shall bo in writing in tho form set forth in the schedule horeto, and shall bo made tc the Clerk of the County. V. Form of License. - Every license granted under this By-law, shall be in the form set forth in tho first Schedule to the Slaughterhouses Act, 1877, and shall be signed by. the Chairman foi tho liii.e being of the County.

•VI. Duration. —Every such Liceuso shall remftin-in force from tlio date thereof until December 31st then _ noxt ensuing, and shall then bo subject to renownl.' ' _ ... ~-; _.; _ VII. Licensee to keep a Kcgister.— . -Every Licensee shall keep a Register ■ of all cuttle slaughtered at his licensed premises in the maimer prescribed by the twenty-sixth section of "The Slaughterhouses Act, 1877." Provided always that the Council will bo satisfied with monthly returns, unless weekly returns avo demanded, IX-. X. Cattle to be properly feci and watered. —All cattle received into pons, stalls, .. or yards belonging to any Liceußod ''Slaughterhouse.shall be.properly fed and watered once, at least, in e.veiy : twenty-four hours. XI. Transfer of Licenßo.-No licensee shall be allowed to transfer his lioense ' without tho consent of the Council, and in reepeot of every such trausferft fee of five shillings shall be paid. XII. Peualtieß.—ln addition to the penalties contained in "Tho Slaughterhouses Act, 1877," any person guilty of any offence against this bylaw Bhail forfeit and pay a sum not exceeding Five Pounds (£5) to be recoveredjin a summary way before any two or more Justices of the Peace. XIII. This By-Law " shall come Into operation on the Fourteenth day of September, 1887. SCHEDULE. To the Clerk, County of Wairarapa North.
