LAND BOARD.
Tho usual fortnightly, meeting of the Laud Board was held yesterday morning. h'osent-J. W. J. MarcharitK Chief Commissioner (chairman), H, Bunny, A. lieese, |W. W. McCardle, W. A. Fitzherbert, and G. Beetham, The schedule showed that hh 2r lip had been disposed of •flraco last meeting at an upset price of £2olos Bd. Applications for transfers were granted as follows:—Section 18, Block VII, Mangaone, from Mr B. Free to D. McLaughlin;, eoofcion 4, Block XH, MangahaO, from W. H. Bennett to E. J, .Hughes. Explanations as to the cause of non-residence ■on their land were made by the following ,of section 97, Huuterville, sections" 188 -to 141, Hunterville, sections 62 and 68, HuaSrvilio, sections 80, and 107 Humervillo, section 46,/.Huntervillo, section 99, Hunterville, and sections 225,'226, 59, and 67, Hunterville. Tho application of Mr P.'Naughton to capitalise on section 24,. Block IX.,Wairoa, was'allowed". .After discussing an application from Mr J. ' B. Anderson to be allowed tp lease Reserve No. 78, Block IX, Pohangina, it was resolved to refer the applicant ■tithe Local Bodies and Wanganui Board Actß. A letter- was: reoeived frointhe Chief Commissioner, Napier, with reference to including a pieco.of laud in the.Wellington Laud District within a partial lease to.be issued for a. block of laud in the Harbor Board district adjoining the same. Proposed by Mr Bunny, seconded by Mr Beetham, and 'carried,- that tho proposal of the Napier Board be agreed to, An application was recakedfroniMr'J. S. Stowellfor-the ' puspse of one acre sootion in the Hastwell Village Settlement, and on J Mr Beetham's motion, seconded % , Mr McCardlo, it wa3 resolved that: .section 15 be put up at an upset price of £5 for cash, Tho application of MrE. Collotte for permission'to use Beaerve 48, Hastwell Settlement, was granted, tho Board taking no responsibility for compensation. • Messrs -Tankersley and Thorby applied for 700 acres at the Mikimiki, as a small run. The Secretary was instructed to inform the' applicants' that sections will be laid off as soon as possible, and Mr Beetham proposed, and Mr „McCardlo seconded, that the Government be requested to arrange with Mr Campboll as to a road through his land to give access to the section. As Mr ; R. Marsh renewed the application for j the use of a one-acre. section in the Nangatamoka Village Settlement block ] for the purpose of erecting a sawmill, it was resolved to issue a lease to Mr cut timbor on'the unsold Bflcl^ ; aU price to be fixed, and to ; give him power to erect a sawmill on one of the sections.;' The Alfredton Eoad Board applied for 'permission to uso thirds to accrue on deferred pay- .i ment and perpetual lease sections in their district to repay interest on a loan to be raised from the' Government ] and Local Bodies Loans Act, 1886. . It was resolved on Mr Mo Cardie's motioned, seconded by Mr Bunny, that the application be agreed to on production of the plan of works .to be done, and the Board being satisfied that the money had been expendod, J »nd the consent of the interested settlers i obtained. In reference to Mr Elliott's j Application for a portion of Crown J Lands to his present lease, it was re- < Bolved on Mr Beetham's moti«u that ( the land be offered for sale as soon as ] possible..
