EDUCATION BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting, of the ' above-Board way held at their offices yesterday (Wednesday) morning, Present-Messrs J, W. Blair (Chair.man), H, Bunny, W C, Bucha'uau, G Btetham, F. 11, Eraser, J. Young, D r Newman, A. W, Brown, and"the Rev. J. Paterson. Tho Masterton School Committee having complained that the drill instructor had only attended-twice since .Christmas last, Jt was resolved to draw the attention of tho Drill instructor lo the matter. The question of building a residence at Te Whiti School was postponed for I want of funds. With'regard to the To Whiti school, Mr Buchanan drew attention to tho fact that thebell wis cracked. On the motion of Mr Bunny it was decided-that tho bell should be returned to the Board and a new one supplied, Certain alterations to the Grey town school were applied for, but the matters wero not dealt with, owing to want of funds, except that it was resolved to provide the boys forms asked for. The sum of £5 was voted for fencing the Piriuoa school ground. It was resolved to supply the tank -wauted for tho school residence at Mauriccville, An application for a Piaster's residence at Mangaone was refused ou financial grounds. ••■ The Board then went iiito committee to consider the appointment of teaohera for the Thorudon and Mautorton schools, and, after some discussion, resolvedto'consulb the committees interested before taking definite' action, j The Board fclien adioumed.—Prees. -1
