AKITIO ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the Board was held on Thursday last. Present Messrs Handyside, Baker and Mason. In the abseiice of Mr Gox Mr Handyside was voted to the chair.- The minutes of jP\ the previous meeting -were read and qL ] confirmed. Tho Treasurer reported a " balance in bank of £204 4s 6d and balance available for future expenditure £24218s 4d. ; Amounts amounting to £l6 4s were examined and passed for payment. Letters were re-ceived'from-County. Clerk asking for statement of accounts/ and from same authorising tho expenditure of £lO on main road.: Prom Mr Cox, requesting to be granted leave of absonce from the meeting, owing to illnoss, which was granted. From' County Clerk, ro names-supplied for ;Gounty roll. - Resolved "that the clerk be apply to the County, Clerk for lip ticulars of tho amounts expended main roads from July 1886 to Maroh 1887,' also particulars of the genersJ rate expenditure.. That the contractor for the office be informed that tho contract must be completed this 'i month. That a general rate of fths of a penny in the. £be made and ' levied on all rateable property in tho district'for the year ending 81st March 1888. That Messrs Handyside and Baker bo appointed to sign the ratebook:." Hie meeting then adjourned to the 18th August.
