GAS COMMITTEE REPORT.
The following is the Gas Committee's, report to be; presented to the Council on 12th July, 1887 I The Town Clerk was directed to communicate with the manager-of the Railway Department with a view to. lighting the station buildings with gas, also re the rate, of freight for native coal. It was resolved' that, the gas 'mains be extended to Miriam Street and Worksop road, eastern end.. The, Town Clork was-instructed to communicate with Napior and Wellington, to ascertain cost, &o» of an iron tank. Messrs Nathan wrote that they had an opportunity of placing more debentures at the same rate as the £2500 worth. Resolved that tho Council be recommended to sell £SOO more for paying off liabilities and extension of mains, &c. The accounts between the Gas loan general and the Gas Works accounts were adjusted. The Gas loan account' showod debentures at £BOOO liabilities. £19715s 3d. The Gas Works account showed received for gas &c;,. £524 15s 6d. Wages, coal, and other expenditure and liabilities, £522 Is Id. Interest to date, £247 10s. In the expenditure is included the cost of laying water-pipes, services, etc. The profit and loss account would be made tip at the end.of September. It was decided to appoint two committeemen monthly to visit the works,' etc.
