TARATAHI - CARTERTON ROAD BOARD.

The minutes of the previous meefing were read and confirmed.' Applications for slaughterhouse licenses were received from E. King andMargeretlngley, and granted,,' A petition was received, from.certain ratepayers asking that no monies be spent in fencing through section 201 Taratahi Plain, and statingthat there were roads which required to be seen to of far more importance. The following correspondence was read:—From Mr Gaselberg : agreeing to a gravel pit on his land which was in the occupation of Lars Anderson, provided the Board fence the same; South County Council re special rating, for the erection of abridge at Matarawa. Resolved that a poll be taken on the matter. T. Reid asking to be compensated- for cleaning out a dram on Hughes' line. Resolved that the request'be .acceeded to. J. Roe agreeing. to fell the bush on' the road leading to his property, for the timber. Left in the hands of the Warden, Mr Reynolds waited on the Board with reference to. the petition, and asked that a rpad.be opened • through.sections 159 and 160. The matter was deferred till next meeting.' Mr Francis waited on the Board in reference to opening up the drains on Masterton road, as they were flooding his. land. .The Warden was requested to see to it, and also to see to the repairing of the road known as Perry's road.' Mr Welch waited on the Board in reference .to a culvert on Moffats line. The matter was left to the Warden. Mr Trice waited on the Board with reference to taking timber: off road near his mill at the. West Taratahi and stated that he wasnofc aware that he was taking timber off the road. The Warden was requested to.see to it. The application from Mr Price for' a deviation of road between his property and Mr Hodder's wasleft to the War-, den to arrange.
Mr Edwards waited on the Board re clearing out a drain on Kakatau [road. The Warden stated that he did not see his way clear to expend any more money on that road. . It was resolvM that the work be done and charged to No 8 Ward. : Tenders for 60 chains wire fencing were opened and Alapass and Monagahan at 10a lOd per chain was accepted. The Warden was instructed to get the ruts raked in on Park Road, Mr R. Hooker offering to give £2 towards the expenses. Some accounts wore passed for-pay-ment and the meeting terminated. • .
