The. annual general meeting of the. obo£i was held at the Central Chambers" onjMtiday evoning. There was a fair ttt™dance of members present, presided over by Mr \f. 6. Beard. The President, in his opening remarks, spoke very strongly on the loose manner • in which the business of the Society had been conducted during last year, and also regretted that there was not. a- larger number of members present He-hoped those who were there would put ; their' - shoulders to the wheel and make tho ihows to bo held during the coming year SB successful as they had been,in years gone by. If they allowed.things to go on n the same .way an thoy.had done during ihe past twelvemonths they xrould not ex--pet the Society to prosper, but lapse'inn. tateof laziness and insignificance. He expressed the h^felfcin not being' able to devote more .time and attention in furthering the interests of the Spcioty, but the nature of his business alone pre-" j Tented him from domg this.
