JUNIOR CUP MATCH.
The second heat for tho Waiwapa Rugby. Union Junior Cup took place •on Saturday last at Carterton between the second fifteens of the Masterton and Carterton Clubs, and resulted in a win for the Masterton team by six points to two, The home team were captained by M. Nicholson, and the visitors by F. O'Connoj. Messrs 0. Fairbrother and Wickerson were umpires, and Mrßeechy referee, . In the first spell King obtained a try-for Carterton, close to the corner flag, from which no further score was made. R. Thompson made two* "-'runs in" for Mastorlou, the first being the finest run made on a Wairarapa ground, Starting -at his own twenty five he made bis way, by dodgy running, through the whole of the Carterton team, and planted the ball behind the goal. His second" run in " was a creditable one, but the try was not gained until a severe maul in'goal had been fought out with two. of the opposing -teams. E, Welch and Thompson both tried place kicks and failed. In the second spell the Carterton forwards pressed- the visitors very hard, and from'a scrim' near the line Eaton got over and obtained the second try for the home team.
