The ordinary monthly meetingof the MasMon. Trustees was held at the* Institute last .evening'lß'iday).;' Present: Messrs E. Feist!(chairman), T, Parsons, J. Muir, and E. E. Chamberlain. 'The minutes of the last.meeting were read and confirmed, and the Treasurer reported a credit balance of £52 7s 9d, A telegram was received from. Mr Hare, apologising for his absence. The clerk stated that he had written to tho Greytown Trustees re 'the proposed consolidated Act, but had received no'reply. ... vRENALLSTREET. ':■■.' The clerk reported that: he. had searched the records of tho Trust with reference to Mr Dagg's letter, 'and read the following resolution, passed : at the first meeting 'of the Trust, and a letter on tho subject: "Atft meeting of tho Trustees held in Maatertou on January -14', 1868; tho Secretary was instructed to write to Mr E» Chew, informing him that when.he conveys half chain of his acre No. 21 to the Road Board, and half chain to the trustees of the Mastertoil Small Farm Association, tho' latter will conyey to: him in consideration of the samo .the adjoining reserveaoroNo..-22, the.cost of oonveyanoes to bo bornoby each party." . :i..■■.■■■'-'■' ■•" Taiti.Hutt,. • January 20,1868.

TheOlork also read a communication from Mr E. Tumerydated April 23rd r 1868, offering to. lease a portion of the half ohain strip (88ft x. 66ft) for 21 years, atarental of £4:perannumfor the first 14 years; .arid' at' £8 for;'; the imkining'Bevehye'aiv '.■;'• ','•"';, The. ohairmotf said that it was quite' clear that "the original 'intention, of, dealing with the ,land was never'for' road purposes, asthe resolution proved that one half was'vested in the Road. Board for a road and the other vested 'hi the -Trust. Ho. hoped that, as the matter had been before them for a long time,. something., definite would be done by tho meeting,.so that when they had to.appear before their constituents this month they could report the matter settled, fle was in favor of:handing, the land over-to the Borough "Council, behoving that'it was for the best interest of the town and the wish of the people, and he was prepared to move in that direction. ' • .
Mr Parsons thought that the Trust should'reserve a few feet along the boundary, as he considered that it would become valuable and amply repay them for giving the other portion. He would support a motion embodying tins'.It was then Moved by the chairman and seconded by; Mr Parsons •.' That thirty feet be giverrto the Borough Council for street widening purposes in Renall-street,"., Mr Muir contended that it was- the" Borough Council's work to road widening, arid riot. : tlie Trust. He should oppose the motion on these.grounds, and would; be in favor of selling the land and ■investing the money, or exchanging for another piece of property, as. he" believed the Council had some that they could part with on these terms. •? Chairman explained that the Trust were empowered by the Act to give the land: for etroet widening piny poses, and he' thought that as the' majority of the people were in favor of |it being done, tbey.'would be justified" in giving it.
