ALFREDTON ROAD BOARD.

1 A meeting of this Board was held on 1 Tuesday. 15th ins'fc. i Present—Messrs 1 Good (Chairman); Cross, Freer, Kebbell, Smith, and Marsh, The minutes of the previous meeting 1 wereread and confirmed.' ■ • Inward correspondence was bad as follows: From the Colonial Treasurer stating that he was now prepared to consider 1 the Board's application for the loan, under the "Government Loans and Local Bodies Act, 1886." It was resolved to take the necessary steps to pass 1 a special order making spechl rates for repayment ol the loans. From Arthur Bowling urging the ' Board's attention to the matter of a •. road to his place. Resolved that Mr ■ Birling be informed that the Board regret it cannot soe its way to do /anything in the matter, and to suggest that mpney.can be'raised under the Local Bodies Acts, and that his thirds are avai!able : for payment of the same. Resolved to take the opinion of the Registrar before the case is dealt with in any manner. From Henry P<mn, in connection with the clearing of some fallen trees from off the Tawataia Road. From G. W. Phillips in reference to the deviation of tho road line through Mr Phillip's property, and gate sanctioned by the Board and erected by him. Resolved that the Board cannot see its way to shift the road through Mr Phillips property, and that Mr Warren 'be written to requesting thesum of 255, being the damage done, to Mr Phillips'gate, through the carelessness of his bullook driver.'."'Mr Smith ■informed- the Board that the settlers at the lower Tawatawa had' deolined to cut the track required by themselves for the" sum offered, but he: had madearrangements by which a very good track was cleared for the sum offered.
