The ordinary general rneoting' of the Board was held on Saturday last, Present Messrs Crewe, Wakeman, Wkitcombe, Miller, and Corbetfc. Correspondencewas'read from Crown Lands Office re road's' to sections on the Tiraumea River Road North. Prom Public Works Committee re proclamation Toritea Road deviation. From County Council.re levels of district roads.. From Treasury re. loan for Tiraumea Road, conversion ,of presont loan, also credit notes for subsidy, and Crown Lands Rates Duty; From •Marsh & Co., offering to pay one-third the cost of metalling twelve chains of; the Toritea Road. ' From Woodville Railway Opening Demonstration Committee inviting members to take part, From Mr W. W. McCardle re Mangarama Road encroachment on his section, No. lj}.'. From Mr Baker re felling bush on. roadline adjoining his .section No, 2, Woodville Survey District. On the receipt of that letter the tenders were let, , and the part of the work would bo com-. pleted in a weok. ■';■••'■ Sir Julius Vogel said there wag no doubt the Council had got into a difficulty. He would refer tho matter again to the ■ Solloltor-General, but he (Sir Julius) was I strongly of opinion that the olause of the i Government Loans to Local Bodies Act; , under whip h the Council desired to borrow ■ the money,'could applied in the present-case. He would bring tho matter ' before Parliament, which/would shortly •'. meet, but in' the meantime; he did not ■ think he .could do anything for them He . would much prefer the .'County taking -,&' i poll on the subjeoc.
