Dohedin, February 23, The funeral of the late Mr James Macandrew took place this afternoon, the body being interred in the family burying ground about half a mile from his, late residence, in Macandrew Bay, About 1.500 people were conveyed by steamer's from Dunedin and Port Chalmers. All business places were closed. The Premier and Coloaial Secretary represented the Government, and the Hon. Fortesque the Governor. Five members of the Legislative Counoil, and 'fifteen members of the House of Representatives, including Sir M. O'Rorke, Speakor,.were present. The servico in the house was conducted by tho Rev. Mr Gregg. ' This over, the coffin was borne by the Mayor and Councillors of Port Chalmers to the private cemetery. The procession which followed was truly representative. Dr Stuart officiated at tho grave, wiiero the body was buried alongside the spot .where Mrs Macandrew was buried some years ago. " Hawera, February 28.. Anthony Tyler, schoolmaster at Midhurst, has been arrested on a chate of indecently assaulting a Maori girl at Ngaire. ■
