I personally know a great many reporters on the paperi - in New York City, and they are all perfeot gentlemen/ I have naveV been misrepresented during all the years I have been acquainted., with newspaper men. I. have never had a reporter break faith with me. '.Whenever they have promised to return a manuseript, komit anything.'they have invtiAly done just as they said they. wonWaq,..'. That there are mistakes in newspaper! . lam willmg,to:admit, but I am-not billing to admit they were madepur*.... posely. The trouble: with most men' " is that they are constantly trying to : keep something Back instead of being ■ perfectly open,'frank anß. free. Thi4fc the reporters will invariably diseoveif ' aud thoy will invariably find out what that something is. Most of the mistakes and misrepresentations made in reports are mistakes that can always bo charged upon some one out of the newspaper office—usually an interested person.
