Auckland, Feb. 14. John Donaldson was charged at the Police Cdurt to-day with creating a disturbance at the Salvation Army Barracks on Saturday night, also with assaulting Captain Wright. He was fined £5 and costs for disturbing the meeting, and sent for two months to gaol for the assault, besides liaving to find sureties to the extent of £IOO to keep the peace for six months. Gisborne, Fob, 14. Tho barque Arkshaw arrived from London on Saturday night, 114 days out, with harbor plant and cement. Captain G.'Tait died on tho voyage on Ist January and was buried at sea. He was a married man. Fe&ding, Feb. 14. Heavy bush fires yesterday endangered the houses in Gladstone street. A quantity of oats in Btooks'was destroyed on Mr Jaiison's property. By the Janet Nicol, which arrived this morning, 'it is stated that Bands, who is'travelling under the alias of. Scard, is at Karatonga, having reached there from Tahiti by the December trip of the Janot Nicol. Scard, who states that he had been got away to save others, says that he has only 1700dols with him. He has thoroughly ingratiated himself with Queen Makea and her subjects (both black and white); and it is said that as long aa he remains at the Island's kingdom he will be safe from arrest, unless a strong force is taken to back up civil authority. It is understood that the American detective at Tahiti intended chartering a schooner and proceeding to Earatonga. The Raratongan Government | have previously refused to surrender j fugitive prisoners, and extradition is a thing unknown at that Island. A series of accidents occurredih the sailing raco on Saturday, in which five boats started, Before reaching the first buoy the halyards of. the Comet carried away. The Wave Queen lay to, to reef, and got out of the race. Half a mile further the mast of'the Eesolute went by the board. Nearing the second buoy the Nautilus jmd'Fairy were cloeo together, and the latter' in jibing capsized, and the Nautilus ran into her hull and stove her in. A demand for the money will first be made, aud if payment is refused the members will be summoned to court in due course.

' ! To-day, H. G. Ell, who was imprisoned for corifo'rapp'of Court on January 26 for refusing to answer a •question of the Official Assignee in the bankruptcy of his.: father, G. W.v : Ell, purged his contempt, and-.sub-mitted to examination. The question he refused'to answer was as to a deed, ''assigning, rights in certain Supreme Court actions'to him. He now asserts that hepaid £8 and other small sums as consideration; for the deed, andgave a note of hand for £7.0. The person who lent this money asserts ho did not lend it to young Ell, but to his father.
Napierj Feb! 16. - A human skull with a hole in it was found near Wallingford. By'some it is supposed ito be the remains of a man named James Gordon who was lost in the bush about fifteen years ago. Gordon lived with his brother Joseph, arid the two were' constantly quarelling, and strong suspicions arose that James was murdored. Joseph sold his:property and cleared out of the colony, soon after bis brother was missed. The police are making enquiries!
