Correspondence inwards,—Re Carterton Towtr Board to be declared a Borough, from Mr Croote, re transferring the lease of the Lake Ferry to C. . Hibbard, Resolvod that the transfer be. granted on condition that thenecessary stipulations be adhered to. .. From Marine Department, re 156 th clause of .the Harbors Act, From Colonial Treasurer, re certain clauses in the Local Bodies Loan Act, re transfer of debentures, Moved that the conversion of the loans be adopted as referred fo. 0r Phillips expressed his disapproval of any local body saddling themselves with a debt for a term ot 26 years. From Chief Survey Office, stating thai, the Chief Surveyor could not at present visit the Wairarapa to pass certain works which, are waiting for him to pass. It was. resolved that the Clerk write and ask if some other surveyor could not be sent, competent to pass the works, From Greytown Hospital, asking for aid, Cr Buchanan moved thai further information be asked for before making any grant in aid. Bunny and carried, From Charitable Aid Board, re the Council's liability, From Colonial Secretary, acknowledging the appointment of members to the United Board, FrOm Police Department, concurring in' the appointment of Constables as slaughter house Inspectors, It waa moved' by Cr H. R. Bunny, seconded,by Cr H. Braithwaito, that the two Road Boards be. asked to concur in the appointment of. the constables in their districts .as , slaughterhouse inspectors, the remuneration for tbe game-to be the derivable from slaughterhouse licenses, .-iCarried, The Public Works ;Committee'B;jreport was read 'and adopted! *. Cr Phillips moved that the . Council give a grant of LlO a year for 26 years towards the Greytown-Matarawa Bridge.
