Detective McGruth conducted the prosecution, the accused being defended by Mr Skipper. _ From the evidence of Dennis Hogan it appears that he arrived in Masterton on Friday afternoon last, In the evening he met accused and several others in the Prince of Wales Hotel, About 11 o'clock a dispute arose over the payment of some drinks, when, accused struck complainant on the nose, and then -snatched some money out of his hands, Information wa? given to the police, snd accused was i subsequently arrested ou'a charge of stealing L 6 7s. Kate Scott, barmaid at the Prince of Wales Hotel, remembered the party being there that night but heard no row nor any complaint of anyone losing money. ; """ Robert Webb/ nightwatohmaa' jfc the hotel saw the party there on the night in question.
