The exlremo heat #f thp weather was, undoubtedly a drawkejs: to ti'Cir efforts to entertain £he public, as people generally are too torpid to go anywhere. The piece selected last evening was a dream of love entitled " Kathleen Mavoumeen," in which tbe histronic and vocal abilities of Harry Power are dis•play- dto great advantage. Tho various members of the Company which supported him possess moro than average ah lity and frequent rounds of applause greeted the progress of tho piece. The special talent of the company appeared last night almost to 1a in comedy, Tho after piece entitled "B. B," was abont the brightest and most qmuaing faroj thatjwe have seen on the Masterton eta ;o for a long time, Mr Harry Power as "Benjamin Bobbins" was irresiiptibje, and. Mr Geo. Melville as " tho (i|)ieken"dißplayod a papaeity forhumorouji'jllustration wliio'i we hardly expected from ono who had just played amost fedate and sober drama impersonation. Mrs Alfred Garnett as" Dolly" repeatedly bought down the house, and Mr Alfred Game t'aß'' Waiter" was equally successful while Mrs Gwynne Herrick pleased everybody by her graceful and pleasing representation. The piece was full of fun nnd drollery. The members of the Company excel in d licing and sinking as well as in acting and those who do not patronizo them during their stay in Masterton will miss a treat. To-nijuts programme commences with Mr Henry Wood's celebrated emotional drama "EastLynne" in which the principal characters will be sustained by Mr Harry Powers,.Mr George Molvilio, and Misseß Marian Meadway and Lidie Bryer. Miss Ne lie Coker, a pupil of Miss < ieorgio Smithaon, will take the part of Little Willie, and wilt no doubt prove an apt interpreter The performance will conclude with the successful farce played last night, entitled 8.8.
