Auckland, December 28. Constable Gordon telegraphs, from Whangarei to Superintendent Thomson that Messrs Duncan Stewart and Colin Urquhart report the discovery of a payable goldfield in the,' Kauri Mountain at Whangarei Heads, between Breamhead and Patauia. They state that they washed one ounce of gold from three dishes in the beach below high water mark. There is also a reef which will run three ounces to tho ton on privateproperty adjoining. They have wired to tho Minister of Mines at Wellington' for protection.
