Kaikoura, this day. Constable Smith of the local polioe force met with an accident while useing Auckland made ammunition at rifle practice through the oartridge bursting. It was blown out of the breach, which was twisted considerably, and projected backwards striking him on the left eye and partially stunning him, Several cartridges which were examined, show very faulty construction,
