LAND BOARD.
A meeting of the Waste- Lands Board was held at 10 a.m. yesterday morning. Present,—Messrs H. Bunny) W. Fitzherbert, W. W. McCardle, A. Reese. In the absence of the tho Commissioner Mr H. Bunny was voted to the chair. Schedule No. 186, of land sold since the last meeting of the Board was read and approved, Au application by the selector of section 1556, Block IX, Kawanga, for time to make his payments, which aro in arrear, was approvod. Proposals wore submitted from the Rangitikei County Council for expending deferred payment thirds, received from sections in fiuutorville It was decided that the approval of the selectors interested be obtained as to tho division of the funds referred to. The Commissioner of Crown Lands reported that no improvements had been effected on Small Run 15, Momahaki, and recommended that it be offered at auction on tho first convenient opportunity. This course was approved. A report from the Crown Land Ranger with regard to the Islands in the Wainpawa River was read, and it was resolved to have a survey made and road access provided.
An application having been received from the Trustees in- Rhodes Estate for information as to the Bale of Crown Lands adjoining sections 102 and 106 Rangitikei, It was resolved to obtain the Ranger's report.
It was resolved not to grant the application of Mr H. Axup for a piece of land 'as a small run up tho Pohangina river.
A communication was received from Surveyor-General, with reference to clearing the bush on tho unsold portion of tho Pahiatua township, stating that the Miuister thought it desirable to offer tho balance of the sections for selection, the selectors to fall the bußh for themselves,
The reply of tho Minister, with regard to an application of the Board for the distribution of lithographic plans shewing lands open for sale in the Wairarapa East and Weßt Counties, being unfavorable, it was resolved that the. Board interview the Minister to-day and more fully explain what was required, A letter was iead from Mr R. R. Meredith Btating that ho held to his opinion that the price for his land should, only bo 10s per aero, since it was. taken up prior to the prico being raised to £l, so that, his case did not come within the meaning of the Under-Secretary's letter referred to by tho Board.
