WHO WANTS SLEEP, ANYHOW?
A Boston physician was called out of a sound slumber the other night to answer the telephone., " Hello! what is it ?" he asked, little pleased at the idea of leaving his comfortable bed, "Baby is crying, doctor; what shall Ido ?" came across the wires. "Oh I perhaps it's a pin,' tugr gested the doctor, recognising the voice of a young mother, one of his patients. " No," said the reply, " I'm suro it can't be that." "Perhaps he has the colic," returned the doctor, with well simulated solioitude. "No, 1 don't think so/ replied the anxious mother, "he dofflrt act that way." " Thon perhaps he's ( hungry," said tho doctor as a last resort., " Oh 1 I'll see," came across the wires, ut and then all was still, The doctor wen' back to bed, and was soon asleep again. About half an hour afterwards he again awakened liy the voilent ringing HH his telephone bell. Jumping out of becTOP and placing the receiver to his oar, he was cheered by tho following message :" YoUs«j were right, doctor, baby was hungry,"
