LAND BOARD.
The usual fortnightly meeting of tho Land Board was hold yesterday morning, Present—J. W. A. Marehant, Chief Commissioner, in the chair. Moasrs 11, Bunny, W; W. MoCardlo, ad W. A. Fitzherberi.
The Board assented to the application of Mr P. Henaghan to bo allowod to oapitaliso payniouts on Scotttm 24 Blook IX Pulmiigina, The appliatiou of Mr R. H. Beany for permission to tranafar sao> lion G Block 1 Makuri to Mr John King was approved, Mr 0, ,W. Roberts was allowed to transfer soctlou 1 Block IV, Mangahao, to Mr L. .Luoui. The Commissioner asked the Board to rule whether a selector on perpetual l*a« could kkh up another section contignous to his own, Tha Board.dowded that ha conld, Tha Alfredton Ro.id Board submitted proposals which were approved with tha exception of section 20 for tlio expenditure of dotforrcd payment and perpetual Icaso thirds accrued to thorn. Tho Beard decided to cancel licences, of section 10, Block III; -Wairoa, and eection 1, . Block, Omallino. It waa decided to reply to Mr D. Hewitt's apphcation for land nudor the homostead system in the Wairavapa, that thaw was no land open on that system in that, district, MrR. H. Elliott's^application for Crown Lands near the Piripi Native' Reserve was ordered to stauil over. a 5 'there was no road leading to the land. The Under Secretary for Crown Lands wrote with roforenco to the publication of plans of Crown auditive Lands, Stating the Government did not consider it advisable to. approvo of the proposal owing to tlio expense, and that sufficient publicity, is already ftiven to the landsales, The matter was ordered to stand over until next meeting, Mr W. L Adams wrote, denying the statemaut of Mr Simpson as to his being in partnership with Mr Phillijwn in perpetual lease section 2, Block.lV, Kaiwhata, The Board approved of the proposal submitted by the Wanganui Harbor Board to expend certain money on road clearing in the block with aviowof offering 3853 aorcs for sale for caßh, With roforenco to Mr McOardlo's statomont as to publication of false information with regard to th-y looation of the Railway line through th* Mangahao and Mukuri Blocks in 1881, the Uommissioiior reported that he luxl read tho minutes, advertisements ainf papers relating to the sale, and ■couli find no mention of tho Railway line then or on the lithographs published at tin time. Mr Dwau appeared .'for tin seloctor of section 11,. Block"• IV, Makuri, with regard to his improvemer.',;) being in arrears, and was told, as; lid beon previously arrauged, no furtjwr action would bo taken at prosent; 'jfrr L. Luom attended and 'applied for/ information as to section 50, Block 1, Makuri,.and the Oomraisßionerinformod him that the Government to offer.it to the nest highest tenderer.
