Sydney, October 18. The prisoners Caffrey arid Penn and Lizzie Graham were again brought tip at the Police Court, the two men being charged with the murder at the Barrier Island, and Lizzie Graham with being an accessory after the fact. They were remanded, pending the receipt of a New Zealand warrant.
Paris, 17th October. The French press, in replying to recent articles in the leading, English newspapers on the European situation, deny that France is seeking war and intriguing against England. They state that the tendency of the French Government is towards peace, and that the armaments are being attended to merely for defensive and not offensive measures. Tho newspaper' Lo Temps, in an article to day, deplores the rivalry and jealousy of the English .press, and urges journals of a serious tone to strive to improve tho relations between England and France.
