A Sydney paper of Octo&er 8 saya that the Sydney football team who visited N.Z., were given a welcome by tho Rugby Union 011 the previous night. Mr J. MacManaway proposed the health of the returned footballers, and said, considering the strength of the team lie thought they had done very well in preventing their opponents from scoring more than they did. J, Shaw, captain of the team, said tho defeats his team had suffered, were due in a great measure to the hard work they had undergone, such as playing five matches in eight days, and travelling hundreds of miles during the interim.
