A very handsome momorial window has just been erected in St. John's Church, Featherston, in memory of the late 0. R. Bidwill, to the order of Mrs Bidwill, of Pilmutoa. Tlio design, "Faith and Hope," and the blending of colors, shows very rare taste and skill, and the memorial will be looked upon by the many friends of the late Mr Bidwill and of his family, a3> a fitting memonto. It' bears the inscription "In loving memory of Charles Robert Bidwill, born 2oth April, 1820, died 21st April, 1884," and a verse from Hebrews, "Jesus, the Bame yesterday, to-day, and for ever," The Waipawa correspondent of the Daily Telegraph- forwards tlio following: —Mr Brysuii bought a quantity of cattle at the sale on Wednesday, which he sent over in charge of Frank Glass. On arrival they were put in the yard for branding, in which operation Frank was assisting. Jn the mob was a bull, which suddenly attacked him, and before lie could get over the fonco, pinned him against the rails, gored him severely iu the thigh, and inflicted wounds on his ankle and other parts of the body. Tom Blank, who was also assisting, rushed to the rescuo, and with the heli> of a handsaw drawn across tlio animal's nose, divortcd its attention while tlio poor fellow was extricated. He is now lying dangerously ill from the effects of this untoward accident, but is in the hands of Dr Hardy, -who is using every effort to avert more serious complications. Messrs Charles Pownall and Co,, mortgage agents, Wellington, 'report ut complete stagnation in tlio money market for the last month, demand and supply being equally contracted, both evidently waiting the tido of events The Banks have, by their offer of G per cent on deposits for 12 months, secured most of the superfluous capital offering for mortgage iiivoßtmc.it, whilo on the other hand mortgagees are not willing to submit to the increased ratos of interest, and the large margin now demanded, which in their present position is both impracticable and ruinous to accept. The continuous jjse in the wool market should circulato.i a largo amount of floating capital from tlio coming crop, wore it not for a strong fooling of distrust exhibited as to its reality and permanence. No doubt ijprn such a rapid and unexpected advanco some reaction will occur, but beyond'that we have no doubt that fair and remunerative prices will rulo for some timotocome. Monoyis now worth 71 per cent, a small amount of trust funds only being obtainable at % per cent on securities marked.AAl, City properties in good position show an advance of fully--25 per cent in value, and are likoly to increase in the samo ratio during the next 12 months.

Councillor Yarnham was encouraged, and ho proposed and Cr Trot-me-outseconded "That Mr Lewis be requested to furnish to the Council plans of his preseut erection (what do theyinean by "erection") and also any contemplated additions and improvements,' I shall adviso Lowis to get the plans done at oiiee and'nail them up to tho door of-the Council Chambers that we may all see i this , wondorful erection of his. Did it striko Councillor Yarnham that there wore cortain ■"erections", called fowl .porches that are moro deserving of feeing called in question than Barber Lewis's hair cutting saloon ?
