CASTLEPOINT ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday last. Presents-Messrs Mauuaell (chairman), Elder, Bellis and Cross, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported balance in Bank of £28610s sd, and balance available for future expenditure, £86716s 3d. Accounts amounting to £3015 a 2d were presented and passed for payment. The following correspondence waa read: From Mr A. Nicholls, applying for materials to repair the lower Tinuibridgo, the settlers to find tho labor; from Rev.' J. C. Andrew, asking that part of his rates be used to repair tho lower Tinui bridge; from Commissioner of Crown Lands stating that a warrant had beau applied for to take a road through Parts 1 and 2, of Sections 865, Mangapakeha Block; from Property Tax Commissioner stating thaf a pottion of Mr R, S. Hawkins' property had been omitted from the roll of tho Castlepoint Diatrict; from same requesting the Board to reduce Mr Groves jun.'a Maesmenfc from £660 to £l6O. for a certain section in tho Mungapakeha Block; from County Clerk stating that the road surveyed to the Fords' property had not been legally taken, as required by the Act then in force; from same commenting on the decision of the Board in respect to handing over £798 ; from J. Morrison re County grant towards metalling done on Blairlogie road, and stating that he» had been led to bellove this Board would give £lO towards the work which he trusted would be forth-' coming; -from Upper Taueru Road Boaitl with Tecelpt; '; . Messrs Stilborn and Bradjng waited on the Board ra respect to (retting, about 15 chains of th'e Aiain road metalled opposite to their properties.'' They offered to'find three horse? and two carts free of chtrge to cart the metal. The Board referred them to the Cqunty
Council, .the' toad not being under the j Board's jurisdiction, Mr Porry also waited on the Board in i respect to the Lower Tigui Bridge, and i repueated thatthe Board' would see their : "way to grant a sum sufficient to enable | the ratepayers to have the Bridge | repaired. ■ The Clerk was directed to inform Mr : Holmes of the result of the reply from . the County re road to For Aft The Clerk of Works waß requested to ascertain what hai become of the missing timber at Akitio.
The following resolutions wore passed: —That applications be made to VWtf County Council for a tracing of jtV Whareaina Road District. That Mr Morrison be informed that there is no record of a sum of £lO claimed by him, therefore the Board cannot entertain the request. That a grant of £l7 be made conditionally towards repairs to Lower Tinui Bridge, Mr Nioholla to give right of way to ratepayers on that side of the river. That a sum of £ls be granted for repaiia in No. 6 Sub-ilivision..^^S t >at a sum of £5 be granted for No. 5 Subdivision.
