CORRESPONDENCE.
THE MAYORALTY.
(To thb Editor.)
Sir,—l take this early opportunity of Btating that I have no intention of offering myself as a candidate for the Mayoralty. 1 will have, filled that honorable position for two years at the end of my present term of office, and think there are many eligible and ablo burgesses who should have an opportunity of occupying the same position, and no doubt as Masterton haß made rapid strides in material propress, no difficulty will be experienced by the Burgesses in olecting a Mayor who will uphold the dignity of the position, and conserve the best interests of the Borough. Before the termination of my Mayoralty 1 intend to do myself tho pleasure of meeting tho burgesses and giving them an account of my two years' stewardship. In conclusion, 1 have only to stato that although I will ceaso to bo an office bearer, my interests are identical with the best interests of the burgesses as a whole, and I will always deem it a duty to serve the burgesses when occasion may require it,
I am, etc., - M. Oaselberg.
