The" balance at the oredifc of the Board was stated at £1992 15s 2d, and accounts : amounting to £2Ol were passed ior'pay. meut. , Thei resignation of Mi H. B, Smythe was.accepted, and leavo of. absence was !<ranted to Mary Evana.. A Bum not exceeding £ls was graufced as honorarium to Mr West as examiner of. pupil teachers. Tlio sum of £l3? 6d wia' ' voted to Mr F.'Bennott aa payment fp»' tuitiun of a pupil teachor, Mrs Iwje'n,; from Park Yale, was appointed >W the ■ Wallacevillo school. Ah application frontthe Belvedere Schoo} Committee for a. ioor between the schoolrooms was granted, ' :■ Some discussiou ensued on a resolution forwarded by the Mastertori School Committee with reference to the erection of »'■. second school. The resolution wss to this effect: "'That.the Committee regret tlio unjust and evasive rofusai"tkthe Board to discuss a question of yii^prluSortance to a large uumber of chUdron id lasterton.' From this the Chautqan of the Committee dissented; The members of tlie Board freely expressed the opinion that thu work, was. important, but repudiated the charges of injustice or evasiveness,'and said that the Board's .decision. \ bad evidently been misunderstood. What was decided ' was r tkt. the Maetertoq.. ■ Committee should find the necessary site, when the B»ard would give £SOO towards the erection dfthe buildiritj. It was considered unreasonable that the Board should bo expected to find the site and building, . The matter was finally, 'left" with the Chairman and Secretary, to be. explained to the Committee. It was agreed to grant the additions applied.for at the Slaiigaoue school.; also to supply cupboards Mid easels for the Masterlon school as applied for. Certain improvements to the. at Matarawa were authorised, aSrost of £4. An application for some fWjiuneritionto Mies Forbes, who had supplied the place of Mr v Ppnsonby during hi* illness, was allowed to stand An application for.a new well at.wptoiiga school waa'granted.' A request by Mr. T. Wakelin for the use of the land about the old school residence Greytown, was acoedod to. A complaint by Mr S. Turkinpton with reference to the indiscriminate use by the buys oftheTeNni school of his paddock as a feeding ground for.their horse? was referred to the local committee.' An application by tint eonimiefcee for repnirs to chimney was granted the.cost not to exceed £3; aHutlittV application for fenoing was refused.
