A FRAUDULENT MONK.
On the 11th of. May the robes of a monk named Brochard, belonging to a Dominican monastry near -Arohacon, were found.on the seashore, and adt profun&ii wag chanted. Two days afterwards'a well dressed man presented himself at a money-changer's, in Bordeaux, I to get some Austrian coupons cashed. He was requested to call again, and when- he did so he was given 'into custody. His indignation was excessive. He was a. merchant of Nancy;'his name was Berthier j and how dafo they suspect him of dishonesty Hk very soon came' to light, however, that he was the missing monk, and that he had previously robbed a Dominican monastry, at Lille, of £I2OO in Austrian bonds! and now ho lain bgndg'hjniaelf. . ,• ''
