MAURICEVILLE ROAD BOARD.
The regular monthly meeting of the Board was held oh Saturday. Present —Messrs Jesses (Chairman), Gundercon, Forsberg, Anderson, and Jaokson, A petition was received! from several settlers in the .West Mauriceville Road, applying for two culverts. ...':<.'.' Correspondence wm read from Masterton Road Board, informing them that a deputation would be received in August next for the purpose of adjusting accounts. Also asking this Boardlo cooperate with them in getting tMKuad Boards Act amended. Fvem Mr Joseph Dawson, intimating ho had timber for sale at Dreyer's rock. Fpn County Counoil, re erection oi pound, and from same re ballasting line, From H. Bannister, re map of .district oncloiingaccount, FromE. W. Mills and Co., enclosing account for press, amounting .to So 1 1L and advising the Board that they bad ff cheaper press in stock. Accounts from A. McLoed, Edwards and Co, Payton and Co.. T. E.. Prios, and Mills and Co, wore held over! From Commissioners of Crown Lands, forwarding aohedulo of deferred payment thirds and perpetual lease fourths, Resolved.—That a sum not exceeding £lO be expended on the West Mauriceville road, in compliance with the request of the petitioners, provided that thoy supplement the sum by anoqual amount, That this Board take no action with regard to tho amendment of tho Road Board Aet. That a letter be sent to the Waste Lands Board, asking them for a full statement of moneys accruing from deferred payment thirds and perpetual leasejjjurths. That this Board do not purcflre the timber from Mr Dawson. That when the missing portions on tho map of the Mauriceville Road Dietricb have been supplied by Mr.H. Bannister, that the sum of £4los be paid to him as per agreement by letter of June 28th last, That a letter be sent to the County Council asking them to. reduco t& account in connection with forming n«W distrid to the amount ot £2l6s 3d. That the Board keep th'« press at a cost of £3 lis. That a separate aecouat be kopt for each of the separato roads in the Mauriceville District, showing how the expends turo lias been allocated and spent on each road, and for statement of the amount of rates accruing from ea«h of tho said roads. That the future meetings of the Board be held at 2 p.m. Accounts amounting to £42 (Ss M were passed for payment. Messrs Gundersen and Jackson were appointed to sign cheques. The Treasurer reported a credit balance in the Bank of £B7.
