CASTLEPOINT ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the Board was hold on Saturday last. Present-Messrs Handyside (Chairman), Harvey, Beljiss, and Elder. The minutes of tho. previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The Treasurer'reported a balance in the Bank of £250 Bb, and a balance available for future expenditure of £l7lßssd. ■ *
Letters were read from Mr J. Cross for leave of absence, from Mr Elder re deviation of road on the Uriti Line. From the Whareama Road Board asking the Board to receive a deputation from that Board. ' From Clork of Connty, with resolution, applying for a sum of £7OB, required by the Council. From same stating that the Boad Board Overseer's services would not be required by the Council after the 9th'June. From Masterton Boad Board with resolution respecting the alteration of certain clauses in the Road Board Act,; 1882, From Mr J; Groves, junr., stating'that he had sold his Roekview property, and applying for a grant of £5 to repair the Adams' Peak Koad. From Mr Williams applying to have repairs done to the road from the Mataikuna Station to the beach.. From Mr Hawkins, asking the Board to consider the question of ;an additional Jd rate ior County purposes. 'From Mr Maokay statin? he would attend the meeting. From Mr Strummer re Railway reform, Resolved.—That leave be granted to Mr Cross. That the, Whareama Road be informed that tha deputation
would be received at next meeting. That the services of the County Engineer; be obtained to survey d deviation of the Uriti line of road (Elder's Hill) in place of the exiating unsatisfactory line. That the application of the County Council for .a sum of £798 be not entertained. That 'some further repairs be done to the Whakaroro crossing. That repairs be executed on the Akiteo livor. road and bridge. That some repairs be done to the right of way to Mr Perry's.' That the toi toi and scrub be cleared on a portion of the Tinui valley road. That Mr Perry be informed that the Board will not require his services after the 7th of August. ■•■.;■.. • MrMaokay waitod on tho Board in respect to an application made by the Council, but.au' tho Council bad been dealt with prior to his coming, he declined to make a statement,
Accounts amounting to £4612s 6d were passed for payment. This concluded the business, and the Board adjourned. .'
