Junior Oup Match,
The final tie for .the Junior Oup of the Wairarapa Rugby Football Uniou was played on Saturday last on the Masterton Club ground between the T« Ore Ore and Mastorton teams, and resulted in a win for the latter team by 7 pointß to nil, after a very tough game. The following are the teams and the positions in the fieldMastorton,—Back, D'Aicy; halfbacks, C. Perry and E. Pelling ; quarters, A. and R. Thompson, and W. McKenae (captain); forwards-Thomas, Day (2), H. and T. Bannister, Emmetfc, Kibblewhite, J. Pelling, Welch. Te Ore Ore.— Back, Nini; half-backs Rimine and Joe Karaitiana; quarters, ftangi, Ellen, and Bob; forwards—Ranfinui Kingi (captain) Himiona, Haka, Kara, Kafiu, Taino! Waho, Taipo, and Tutohe. Messrs w! H. Hirschberg-and J.' Ross ''acted as umpires for the lespective teams, and Mr J. J. Mallard as referee.' Two -gpalla of forty minutes each: were played." Day .came through with a dribble, • which JSfgatura stopped, the touoh line became the scene of furious scrimmages, the Natives having the best of it, Kllera put in a telling run and Masterton again accepted the inevitable. Kanganui's kick off was woll enough to cause some fierce scrhgHging opposite the Te Ore Ore goal imo, the situation was reclaimed by the native forwards, who were playing a vigorous game, Ellers marked and took a drop kick which E. Polling rokurned into touch. The Masterton forwards began to liven up at this stage Thomas aud'Kibblewhite being conspicuous in. a : ,dribble through'their opponents ranks that oompellod Te Ore Ore to accept their first forcedown, Things became very lively from tho kick out, the natives by a terrific onslaught Worked the leather into Masterton territory when B. The place, though a difficult one, he converted into an unde* - niable goal by a splendid kick, This score was the signal foV a terrific onslaught by the Te Ore. Ore toam.. Ellers' kick off was mulled by the opposing half Ifeckg, and boirig quickly followed up scrimKaging within Masterton's 25 yards flag took place. By some good forward play of J. Pellinp, Eramett, and T. Bannister tho ball was carried to the centre, but was again worked back by the Nativos and fierce work on the Masterton goal ended in a forcedown. The kick out waj well followod up by the Masterton men, and by some very fast play on the part of Day, Kibblewhite, MoKenrie, A. and & Thompson, the latter was enabled to plaee a try to his credit; 0. Perry failed in the place kick. The Te Ow Ore team now completely fell to pieces, forcedown' after forcedown followed in rapid successio*, the Masterton men having it all, their own way,.the only time tJj&jfatim showed up after the last&ore was made when Simeon took a pais forward from h Masterton man, and not being called back, was stopped by D'Arcy within the 25 yards, no side being called with the play.on the Masterton goal line.
