VOLUNTEER BALL.

The Theatre Royal presented a very enlivening appearance last,evening on the occasion of the Annual Ball of the Master-' toll' Volunteers. There were eevoial fancy dresses among; the company,notably a Scotch lass, lady of tho Ehzik bethiaa period, and Italian and French, peasant girls; The whole scene was an exhilarating, one when the gay 'uniforms mixed-., with the bright dresses of the ladies. Among'the visitors present were .several of- the Carterton corps. The refreshments supplied by M| Polling wore firet class, both iu quality aud quantity. The-whole arrangements reflect great credit on the committee and to Lieutenant Thompson a little extra praise' is due for his vory efficient management during the evening.
