Owing to the late arrival of the visitors plat was not commeneed before 330, and it was only possible to play a single spell of twenty-five minutes in the aocond fifteen match, and two spells of the same duration in the senior matoh. Me««n Jaoksoa and Wickerson umpired for Greytown and Masfcerton respectively, Mr Baechy acting ai referee. Second Fdtbbn, This match was a complete fiasco as far as play was concerned. Day cap. tained the twelve men the visitors put in the field, MoKenzie having charge of the home team. From the kick-off to the calling of ''no side" the visitors were on the defensive, the opposing quarter-

MoKenzie having the piny to themselves, the first-named securing three tries, ami the other two one eaVh,\ Pony and McKenzie eaoh kicked a goil, $e other three being failures'. , The scorn stood at the finish at Masterton 2 goals and 3 tries to IoTO, FIKST FIFTEEN. For this match the following teatna faced each other.•-Greytown—H, Udy (Captain), 0., A., and E. Udy, 0., A., and J. Beard, W., J., and G. Humphries, F. Tully, T. Fisher, J. Terry, Webster, and Day. Masterton—W. Perry.(Captain), J. and 0. Bannister, Kibblewhite, Welch (2), j., W., and C. Perry, Polling, dolmwood, Whatman, Hounslow, Ewington, and Blinkhorno. Udy kicked off, and very determined play eventuated in each side Wng afraid to trust the ball out of scrimmage. The first, part of the game was confined to the centre of the field, the. forwards doing the lion's share of the work. After about ten minutes tight play the ball got loose, and 0. Perry at half-back got an opportunity which he quickly seized.; Takinj the ball at full sptee'd; ho put in a Splendid run through the opposing'backs, and touched down directly behind the posts. The kick, though an easy one, was a failure. The play to the end of spell was principally scrimmages, at which the teams were equally matched. From the commencement' of' the second j kick off the Greytown team played a .game to win, which was met with an equal determination irom the home team that they should not. The play that ensued was tho most exoiting yet witnessed on a Masterton ground. Each goal line was in turn menaced, Bcrimmage after scrimmage in dangerous proximity to the coveted line, causing hari work to the players, and excitement among the spectators. Near the finish «f tho game the play was in the Greytown territory, when Day (Masterton) came through the Borimmago, got possession of the leather, and looked like adding another score for his team, when ho was forced into 'touch in goal.' The game ended in favor of Masserton by a try to love. ■

The display of football throughout the senior match was one of the best yet seen in tho Wairarapa. There was an absence of that obnoxious practice of falling on tho ball "in scrimmage which tends so much to create illfeeling among the player, The forwards on both sides played more with their feet and less with their hands than has usually been the case in those matches, a feature that is to bo especially commended, as it gives the backs an opportunity to play their game, and also shows up the individual play of the forwards in dribbling. The game would be greatly improved if teams would go in for this branch of the play, for nothing is more difficult to stop during a match than a man trotting along with the leather at his toe, with a knowledge of his own power over- the sphore. A few practices at the Harrow game would improve:.the dribbling power of any team, and recommends itself to practice captains. The utmost good feeling prevailed among the players throughout the match, and had it not boen for tho presence of the larrikin element, a more successful football match would not have been recorded in the Wairarapa. In conclusion, without further reference to tho disgraceful show of foeling by the element referred to, it would bo as woll to remember that visitors to the town should be treated as guests- especially by junior football clubs and the spectators. It is only among those that do not know the rules that govern players that show the most foeling during the play, and it is to be hoped that an effort will be made to keep the gatherings select.

The Te Ore Ore Football Club played the second fifteen of the Carterton; Club on Saturday at Oartertorton, the match being the first for tho Junior Cup. The Native team whb far too heavy to allow of their opponents having any show, and won by one goal and seven tries (19 points) to ml. D. Simeon obtained two tries, Ellers three, G. Karaitiana one, Rnngitawhira one, and W. Simeon one. Ellers played splendidly throughout. Tho game was a vory roughono all through, and a good deal of ill feeling was displayed at the beginning.
