The following appears in the National Reformer of 18th April, and may therefore be taken as authoritive :—" We see in the Australian and. New Zealand papers paragraphs referring to Mr Bradlaugh's intended visit to the Colonies. As, however, the Government will not at present consent to stay proceedings in tho suit pending againßt Mr Bradlaugh for penalties for sitting and voting at the last Parliament, and in which there is an appeal pending to the Homo of Loij|h wo regret to say that it will be q™-' impossible for Mr Bradlaugh to cross the Pacific this autumn. He abandons the project with much regret.
The Miller lecalls to mind the old Btory of Joseph in Ejjyrrt. The decrease of wheat cultivation in this country, due to the low price which has ruled in late years, is, according to the Miller, gradually developing'a serious danger to' nation; and a big "war, it is argued fIK would assuredly produce terrible among our people, for the price of foreigtf - brought wheat would go up with a bound, consequent on the inevitable rise in freight and insurance, not to speak of thV miisohief 6f which the'enemy might be capable. The Miller, under these circumstances, atrongly advocatos a " policy of Joseph." Jn other words, it starts-a movement for the introduction of State granariea, ( Buffioient to assure the country one year's wheat supply against any contingency.
