A REMARKABLE PONY.
The Career of a remarkable pony is given in a letter to the Sporting- and Dramatic News:-' In case it may be of any interest to you, I enclosea photograph of my bay country-bred pony Chorister, height 132, the most successful racing pony in India of recent years. Bought originally of a native in 1881, for 70 rupees, ho soon proved to bo almost invincible among ponies of his class, and in 1883 he was bought for 2,500 rupees, by Mr J,'W, Darwood, a Rangoon merchant. Between 1883 and 85 ho ha? won 10 firstclass races in Rangoon, one of his rocont achievements having been to win a mile handicap with 13st illlb on his back, tho next pony c;«vymg 7afc 81b. Upon this occasion he did his mile in 2min .In 1384 he passed into the hands of E, S, Syinu9.of.tho Bengal Civil Service, bv whom he was regularly hunted last year with the Rangoon Readies, proving him to be as successful over a country as ha was previously known to be on the flat. He b?.3 won altogether between 20 and SO races, and now proposes to retire on his laurelß.' ■ " ■ i
