THE GISBORNE MURDER.

(United Press Association.) Gisbome, this day. The hearing on a charge of murder against Wm. Rowland, that was com menced on Tuesday was concluded yesterday. The accused was committed for trial. The evidence showed that accused and deceased quarrelled over a partnership contract the night previous to tlio murder. Early the next morning a Maori heard the report of a gun and accused camu t» him aod said a European was mad and shooting at him. Accused told the police deceased (Neave) had been brooding about money, and shot himself, and tried to kill him (accused) with an aie. Medical evidence proved the wound could not have been aolf-inflicted. The evidence showed deceased was a quiet, sober, and industrious man, with no sign of montal delusion. His life was insured for £4OO, and he had £2OO on fixed doposit, which he left to his mother in England.
