THE NEW TIME TABLE.
As a very considerable amount of interest is centred in the new time table about to bo issued on the Government Railway, we are glad to.be in a position to-day to inform our readers of the various changes that have been definitely Bettlcd upon. As regards the Hutt line there are to be two extra trains daily each way, leaving Wellington at 9.30 a.m. and 2.20 p.m., and the Hutt at 10,10 a.m, and 9.15 p.m. Tho 8 p.m. train from Wellington will be altered to 10 p.m., excepting on Wednesdays and Saturdays, when it will leave at 11.15 p.m. as usual. The trains that generally take 40 minutes to do the journey will in future do it in 35 minutes. -The train that usually leaves the Hutt at 8,45 a.m. will leave at 8.34 a.m., and arrive in Wellington at 9.15, thuß doing tho journey in 32 minutes, The 5.15 p.m. train from Wellington to Lower Hutt is timed to arrive at its destination at 5.45 doing the distance in half an hour. This is a vast improvement, and will be duly appreciated. The afternoon train for the Wairarapa will leavo at 4 o'clock instead of 4.25, and will reach Masterton at 8.30. Tho morning train from Mastorton will leave at 7.30, ajid reach Wellington at 12.10 p.m., instead of 12.20 as at present. The morning train for Wairarapa will leave at 7,15 instead cf 7.25, and will proceed right through to Mauriceyille, arriving there at 12.40 p.m.; and a train will leave Mauriceville for Wellington daily at 2,5 p.m., and Masterton at 2.50 instead of 2,5 p,m, arriving in Wellington at 7.25 instead of 7.5 as at present. This train will leave the Hutt at 6.52, and Petono at 7 p.m. As regards the Sunday trains the only alteration is that the train from the Hutt leaves at 5,15 p.m. instead of 6.30. as being likely to prove beneficial to the working of the line, mid we heartily congratulate the' Department on producing % timetable that, if not perfect, at all, events goes a long way towards making the line one of the most popular in the colony.
