The Feathoraton Road Board held a special meeting on Saturday last, for the purpose of electing a Chairman for the ensuing year, and to consider tho matter of a loan to the West County Council. Mr J, Tully was elected chairman on the motion of Mr Dowman, seconded by Mr Harris. A special meeting of the Taratahi-Car-terton Road Board was held on Saturday. Present Messrs B. Boys, H. R. Bunny, H. Braithwnite, W. Booth, W. Parker, E. W. Dorset, J.Rayner.andJ. Stevens! the last two taking their seats for the first time. It was moved by JJr H. It. Bunny, and seconded by Mr H, Braithwaite that Mr B, Boys be elected Chairman for the ensuing year.—Carried. The Chairman briefly thanked the members fur the honor conferred upon him. The clerk read the statement of valuations of each ward. Mr H. Bunny moved, and Mr E. W. Dorset seconded that fd in the £ rate be levied for the ensning year. An amendment was moved by Mr H. Braithwaite and seconded by Mr J. Rayner that Jdin the £ be levied, and after somo discussion on tho motion and amendment, the Chairman put the amendment to the meeting,' and only the mover and seconder voting for it, thooriginal motion was declared carried. The storm that lias been raging on and 'off since Saturday night has proved very disastrous in this and surrounding districts. On Saturday eveningtheatmosphere charged with electricity,towards midnight a heavy vain commenced .and continued more or loss fiercely - until this morning. The vibration put the finishing touch to the work of the flood and the end ot the bridge gave Way. The goods h'ain was unable to cross. two hours after, and I traffic is stopped. At Wainuioru the bridge in courso of construction by Mr Joseph Dawson was completely destroyed, the whole of the work and the scaffolding being washed away. The bridge would have been finished to-day but for the floods, and the'contract finally completed. Reports are not yet to hand from the East Coast and Forty-Mile Bush districts. Messrs L J.
