MASONIC.

The.lnstallation of the W.M., and in' vestiture of officers of St. Marks Lodge 2059 E.C., took place in the Town Hall Carterton yesterday afternoon in the presence of a large gathering of Freemasons from all parts of the district. Among those presont were Bros. R FittoivW.M,, and Officers ofMaaterton Lodge 1430 E.C., Wr Skeet P.M;, 1, Gray W.M.,- and officers of Greytown •Lodge'-1720E.C, J. D. Oakley W.M., and officers of St. John's Lodge 1888 E.G.. (Fcatherston,) L. J. Hooper 11, W.M. Thistle Lodgo. Gl7 S.C.\ and visitin* brethren from Lodges 1919 E.C 460 S.C., and 46!) 1.0. P.M. Bro. John Smith acted as Installing niaßtor, and performed the impressive ceremony in a most.efficient manner, the .following brethren being invested with the insigniaa of office for the ensuing year:—if McMasterJ.P,M.,G.M, Gardener W.M. It. Darby S.W., T. Acocks J,W„ C. H GayforS.D,, I, Bairatow J.D., T. Proctor 1.G., H. S, Home Tyler, -N. Grace Secretary, T, A, Weston Treasurer. ' _ 'A b'all to celebrate the event was held in the evening, in the same .place, which ■was fitted up .and decorated in a most elaborate manner, Under the superintendence .of.the-newly.installed W.M., the emblems audmottoes of the craft,' being most artistically arranged. Between seventy and eighty couples responded to the invitations,, the gathering being considered oue of the largost yet held in .the district, Mr Keisenberg's. string band from sasterton supplied the music, which was considered par excellence. The refreshments, being-under the able guidance of Bro: E. Buckeridge, were everything that was desirable. " Visitors were present from Masterton and all parts of the district, tho general verdict being, that the Initiate Masonic Ball in Carterton would long be remembered with pleasure by all who took part in it. "
