«■ ' - The following is briefly a description of the arrangements as proposed for the new grounds of tho Canterbury Agricultural ! and Pastoral Society, as described in the Christchurch Press:—The entrance is from the Lincoln road, where there are hree entrance gates, the first, nearest .town, being for machinery and pigs, the centre one for admission of the public, the third leading into a fenced road, which runs to the cattle-house and sheep pens. The plantation along the boundary has been planted with trees of various kinds, The pens for the sheep will comprise 450 pens, and they back on to the fenced road already described being arranged in Bets of four running diagonally, Tho road leads to the cattle pens, which aro arranged in double rows in front of the cattle and horse boxes, the latter of which are placed along the entire length'of the boundary fence, The cattle pens, which will be covered, are divided—first for fat cattle, next for shorthorns and other breeds, Between the cattle pens and the horse stalls, the latter of. which are placed towards the extreme northern end of the grounds, is the corn store, which is to be built on to tho boundary fence. The accommodation to be provided is as follows:—For cattle, 170 covered-in pens or Btalls; for fat cattle, 30 open pens; for horses, 160 stalls, to be covered in ; for horses 40 loose boxes. The corn store is to be 30x 20. Tho pigpens, which are to be covered, are calculated to comprise 100 pens. Room has been left for the increased accommodation of stock if required, Entering tho gates on the right hand side, about five acres have been devoted i;o implements and machinery, Beyond this, and towards the judging rings anil trotting, track, is to be erected an enclosed shed for New Zealand manufactures and dairy produce, which will be 115 S.6fc;with twelve, feet
