SYDtfEY, April 27. The Australian Defences Conference has resumed its sittings this evening. Nothing has been allowed to become known of what has transpired regarding the business transuded.

The Wairarapa arrived last night from Auckland.

The Conference on the question of the joint Australian defences has commenced its ■. sittings. The following were the representatives present:— Sir Patrick Jennings, Premier of New South Wales; Mr Gillies, Premier of Victoria ; Mr Griffith, Premier of Queensland; and Admiral Trvon for the* Imperial Government. Nothing has .been learnt as to what took place, the proceedings having been kept setttet.
