CARTERTON LIBRARY.

The annua general meeting of the Carterton Library subscribers was held at the Institute on Tuesday evening and in th# absence ot Mr W. Booth, Mr E. Samuel was voted to fcho chair. The minutes of last mooting were read and confirmed. It was moved by Mr W. Pliilpot, sanded by Mr W. Downard, that the pkrtcosheetas then read be adopted,—Carried. Parker Li- : brarian at the same salary, viz., £lO,/ The following is a statement of receipt/ and expenditure for tho past year;— Receipts—balance from last year, £49 la 3d ; members' subscriptions, £2G 7s Gd; donation by Mr Buchanan, £10; rent County Council offices, £2O; Governraonb subsidy, £l6 ltis; total, £122 4s 9d. Expenditure—new books, £4B 18s 2d ; freight, &c., on same, £1 Ids fid; re, binding of books, £lslla ; carqaga'oß same, 7b Grl; insurance, £3 IBs; librarian, £lO ; incidental, £1 Jis 8d; balance in Bank, £4O 13s 7d; total, £122 4a 9d, The Chairman congratulated the members on tho financial position of the Library, and it was resolved that £SO worth of new books he added, and Messrs Samuel, Wilson and Parker, woro appointed a sub-committeo to make up the lists tor tho same, and any member wishing for any particular book to jjAsent for, could inform the committee If the same, The Librarian was authorised to" got a cupboard made to stow oK papers and books away in. Mr EwenHas reappointed auditor. Tho Secretary was-i authorised to insure the books of the V Library for an additional £IOO, making it up to £3OO, and the meeting terminated.
