Sir Patrick Jennings accordingly made his Financial Statement, shewing a deficiency tor the year of one million seven hundred .and three thousand pounds, He proposed to increase the Customs tariff, and to include imported barley and butter; also to double tho present duty on hops ; a five per cent, sdvalorem .duty to bo levied on a number of articles now admitted free; and a land tax of halfpennyintliepoiindon unimproved value.
