DISAPPEARANCE OF A BANK MANAGER.
A iicnaation. was creuted in commercial circles in Sydney and Melbourne on Saturday, March 20, by a rumor that the manager of the Baiu of Now Zealand in Sydney (Mr E, B. Bolt,) hud absconded, Tho roprtrt spread and caused excitement, all manner'of speculations as to tho causa boiiig indulged 'iii. It appears that about ton days previous, on account of certain ine»|ariticß, Mr Holt was suspended by anwemi manager, Mr Murray, who Auckland per the Alameda on the' Friday.' Mr Holt did not attend it tho bank, and inquiries being made at his private house-; his wife, on being closely questioned, sal her husband had left Sydney. Mr Murray states that although a thorough investigation is being m»do, there are at present no grounds for lupposing that the position of the Bank is at all affected by Mr Holt's transactions, and there is no occasion for alarm for the Bank itself. It is believed that Mr Holt went b'verland to Melbourne to catch tlio Austral. Ho has occupied the position of manager of tho Sydnoy branch for rnoro than ton years.
