MASTERTON TOWN LANDS TRUST.

The regular monthly meeting of the Trustees was held last night, Present Messrs Gapper (Chairman), -Muir, Hare, Parsons, Feist, and Perry. ' The minutes of tho last meeting wore confirmed, The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £loßlss, Father Treacy wrote, offering to rent a paddock from the Trust, but the offer was declined. Captain Robinson wrote, asking to be granted an extension of the lease of the Salvation Army Barracks and section in Dixon-street, in lieu of compensation for improvements, Tho Clerk said they were entitled to a renewal of the lease from the present date to ten years, but they wanted a renowal beyond that period. They had since erected a dwelling house on the land Mr Hare said whatever extension tho Trustees gave them now, they would receive the cottage, which would compensate tho Trust for such extension. Mr Muir was of opinion that the cottage would not be of much value in 20 years time, ai it was built of white pine, Mr Feist was of opinion that they ought not to increase the rental vory much, as the Army had made the improvements themsolves. The Chairman moved " That tho Trustees are willing to grant a lease for 20 years, providing the Lessees pay rates and Insurance for tho last 10 years and tho usual clauses be inserted for having the building painted every three years; the cottage to bo insured in the name of the Trustees for tho last half of tho period. Mr Hare seconded the motion, which was carried. Mr Hate brought up an interim report on tho proposed rules and regulations, and an extention of time was granted to the next general meeting to complete them. Mr Feist said the finance committee had met and considered the question of providing for tho Park debt, and had resolved to recommend that the question' of taking over the debt of tho Park stand over until the finance meeting of the Tryst took place. He thought by that time tho Committee, having tho apnual accounts before the\n, would know their financial position. It wasiresolved that Monday April 12th. bo fixed on as the day for the special meeting of the Trustees to prepare aocounts and statement for tho annual publio meeting, The Trustees went through the. various leases prepared by Mr Bunny of the land recently leased by auction. The meeting then adjourned.
