United Press Association. Auckland, This day. The Pukekohe railway station hasbeon burglarised. The safe was carried a quarter of a mile and thrown over an embankment. It contained £25 but the burglars failed to open it. Mis Askew, of Newmarket, died from an overdose of laudanum. It is supposed to be a case of suicide, it being stated that deceased was in a depressed state of mind for some time past, owing to unsuccessful speculation, CHRiSTOHrmcH, This day. Mr W. White, M.H.R. for Sydenham has .forwarded his resignation to the speaker in consequence of his medical advisers orders that he must retiro from public life for a year or two. Ross, This day. Tho body of Walter Bernard has been found in the river. An inquest will he hele to-day.
